Darlene Zanidean
1965 ~ 2023
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Darlene Gail Zanidean, beloved wife of Ali, announce her unexpected passing at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at the age of 57 years.
Darlene was born on November 20,1965, a daughter to proud parents David and Sarah Convery. She grew up in Swift Current where she received her primary schooling and attended Swift Current Composite High School. After high school, she furthered her education later in life graduating from the Medicine Hat College. Darlene married Ali Zanidean in Medicine Hat on November 20, 1989 and their marriage was blessed with the births of three children; Nazayh, Marcus and Alex.
Darlene was a nurturing mother and devoted wife. She was a caring, compassionate and hardworking woman and these were some of the natural traits that served her career well helping others in the health care field. Darlene was a dedicated and much-loved Health Care Aid at South Country Village where she kindly cared for residents for 23 years.
Darlene was well liked by all who knew her. She had a witty sense of humour and smile that could light up the room. She enjoyed the little things in life like going camping (especially at Elkwater), visiting friends and family, country music and traveling. She was particularly fond of warm destination trips to Cuba, Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.
Darlene was a proud woman. She was proud of graduating college and her career, her talented green thumb growing flowers and plants, but most of all she was proud of her family. Family meant everything to her and spending time with them warmed her heart the most. Darlene will be deeply missed by her husband Ali; her boys, Nazayh, Marcus and Alex (Joalee) and their son, Darlene’s precious grandson, Jasper; stepfather, Michael Chant; father, David Convery; siblings, Janet Chant, Clint Chant and Cindy Wiebe; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her mother, Sarah Chant.
A Celebration of Darlene’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Murray Jaster officiating.
