Edna Vossler, beloved wife to the late Chris Vossler, was called home to be with the Lord on April 26, 2023 at the River Ridge Senior Village in Medicine Hat, AB at the age of 93 years. Edna was born on May 6, 1929 in Medicine Hat to Jacob and Emelia Ziegenhagel. She was the fourth child of six. She grew up on the family farm in the Robertson District, north of Elkwater. After receiving an education at the country school, Edna spent her days raising her siblings along with some other neighbourhood children and preparing meals for the thrashing crews. On November 12,1949, Edna married Chris Vossler and they continued to reside in the area. Together they welcomed three children, Betty, Gerald and Alan. They raised their family on a mixed farming operation for over 50 years. Edna held a significant role in the success of the farm, working along side her husband with the cattle and in the fields, while also tending to the household duties. She was no stranger to hard work, sacrifice and dedication, which can be seen through her children and grandchildren today. Edna was also known for her great cooking, she was always willing to whip up a meal for family gatherings, brandings, church potlucks or for any stranger that may have stopped by unannounced. In her spare time, she taught herself to play the piano, learning old hymns and Christian songs. In 1994, Edna acquired the house that her mom and dad built on Ross Street S.E in Medicine Hat where she moved into permanently in 1999 and resided until December 2019. When she moved into town, Edna kept busy in her garden, attending church regularly and many social gatherings. She was also an active member of the Veiner Centre where she loved the exercise classes, the odd meal and great fellowship. Every Tuesday you could find her alongside her siblings at Burger King for lunch, she also thoroughly enjoyed her Skipo and Dominos group that met on most Wednesday and Sunday afternoons. You could always count on her to lend a helping hand and being a strong supporter, whether it be babysitting, cooking, attending sporting events or a 4-H show, she was everyone’s biggest cheerleader. Edna enjoyed traveling in her later years as well, seeing Australia, New Zealand, Panama Canal, Maritimes, and several parts of the United States. As her health would decline, Edna moved into the Chinook Villa where she resided for three years but still remained active with the things she loved. Through all the years, the most important things to Edna was her family and her strong faith in God. She was so proud to tell anyone who would listen about her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren accomplishments along with sharing Gods words. She lite up a room and touched the lives of many, Edna will be dearly missed but the memories will be cherished and the lessons will not be forgotten. Edna was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Emelia Ziegenhagel; her husband, Chris Vossler; sister, Freeda Swadling; brothers, George, Arthur and Johnny Ziegenhagel and son-in-law, Harvey Miller. She is survived by her three children, Betty Miller, Gerald (Gail) Vossler, Alan (Lois) Vossler; two sisters, Alice Boschee and Ruth (Harold) Cain; nine grandchildren, Kerri (Murry) Giles, Lisa (Darwin) Kozak, Craig (Janel) Vossler, Lori (Darren) Sjodin, Curtis (Lee) Vossler, Crystal-Gayle Judge, Benjamin, Fredrick and Sharon Vossler and 15 Great Grandchildren, Colton and Caleb Anderson, Josie, Taylor and Brandt Giles, Sienna Kozak, Reid, Alyna and Zoey Vossler, Liam and Zoe Sjodin, Nate and Heather Vossler and Julissa and Julian Judge.
