Frances “Meme” Elise Gosselin of Medicine Hat passed away after a courageous battle on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at the age of 73 years. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Frank (Marlie) Kappeler, Carman (Danika) Gosselin, and Sereena Gosselin; nine grandchildren, Keziah (Cole), Zacharie (Emma), Adrian, Amburgh, Beckett, Olivia, Marrianne, Mia, and Aria; three great grandchildren, Kingston, Kaylum and Hadleigh; two sisters, Toni-Lyn Lemay and Dixie Bellrose; three brothers, Carman Gosselin, David (Tina) Gosselin, and Tassie Weiss as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents, Betty “Dolly” Doris Bliss and Joseph “Zach” Michel Gosselin; three sisters, Beverly Gosselin, Marianne Gosselin, and Betty (Doon) Taylor; two brothers, Larry Gosselin and Rodney Weiss; her daughter, Beverly Kappeler and great grandson, Gabriel. Meme was born in Medicine Hat on March 21, 1950 to Dolly Bliss and Zach Gosselin. She attended Elm Street School and Alexandra School in Medicine Hat. She worked at the glass factory in Redcliff, and in the service industry at The City Café, as well as at the Elks, Legion, and the Riverside Waterslide. Meme played softball while at Elm Street School, enjoyed watching hockey and loved to watch her grandsons Zach and Beckett’s football games. Throughout her life, she had many hobbies like drawing, jigsaw puzzles, going for ice cream at Swirls with Amburgh and Tassie, and Bible Study. She would read her bible from start to finish each year and was strong in her faith. Meme made sure to send out goodnight prayers for everyone she loved. Her main interest was her children. She sacrificed absolutely everything for her kids. No mother was ever more dedicated to her children than Meme was. The funeral service will be held in River Valley Community Church (1101 Queen Street S.E.) on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Borrows officiating. A private interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery. The service will be live streamed.
