Area economic development group gets funding boost
A local group with a key role in developing and diversifying the region’s economy will get increased funding from the province.
The Alberta government says it is more than doubling its support for the province’s nine regional economic development alliances (REDAs). A commitment of $1.125 million provides $125,000 to each of the REDAs.
“Nobody knows their local economy better than REDAs, which bring awareness of provincial and municipal initiatives,” says Jobs, Economy and Northern Development Minister Brian Jean in a news release. “Each area has its own specific needs and goals, and this additional support will increase their ability to develop local solutions to economic needs while supporting the improvements that their region needs.”
Southeastern Alberta is served by the Palliser Economic Partnership which includes the communities of Medicine Hat, Hanna, Oyen, Redcliff, Consort and more.
