Cathy Bourassa
December 3, 1944 ~ February 26, 2023
It is with heavy hearts to announce the passing of Catherine ‘Cathy’ Josephine Bourassa. She passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Care Centre in Medicine Hat on February 26, 2023, at the age of 78 years. Cathy was born on December 3, 1944, in Regina, Saskatchewan. She met her beloved husband, Laurent Bourassa, the two fell in love and were married on June 27, 1964. Catherine spent the majority of her life as an insurance agent, which was a perfect fit for Cathy as she had a photographic memory when it came to numbers. She also enjoyed the beauty in others and became an Avon representative as well. Cathy was a very outgoing person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether this was bowling, baking or playing cards; Cathy always had a good time. She had a smile that lit up the room and a giggle that was contagious… these traits made Cathy an extremely lovable person. Always giving back to her community, Cathy coached bowling and served as the secretary and treasurer for the local bowling club. Traveling was a passion of hers and on her 30th anniversary cruise, she took a trip to Bermuda and Mexico which were memorable occasions for her. Cathy’s memory is left to be cherished by her daughter, Roxanne Bourassa (Marty Materi); brothers and sisters, Wayne Topp, Peter (Laura) Topp, Marie (Duane) Szafron, Theresa (Ken) Martinook, and David (Mary Jane) Topp; grandchildren, Lauren (Matt) Seitz, Justin Bourassa, Melissa (Lane) Therriault as well as her three great-grandchildren. Cathy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Laurent Bourassa and her son, Doug Bourassa. A Celebration of Cathy’s life will be held in Fernie, British Columbia in June.
