MEDICINE HAT, AB – You should “hurry hard” to get your team registered for Medicine Hat’s longest-running sporting event.

The city is now accepting registrations for the 58th annual Jam Pail Bonspiel at the Kinplex on Feb 22-23.

“We are excited to be back at the rink for this family-friendly event,” says Mark Risdon, recreation program coordinator for the City of Medicine Hat in a release. “We consistently see over 300 students participate in the event and encourage families and friends to come out and cheer their student(s) on in a friendly-competition.”

The Kinplex ice will be converted into 13 curling sheets for students from Grades 3-6, and this is the first curling experience for many of them. The bonspiel started as a provide students with an activity focused on participation, sport and fun during the annual teacher’s convention.

The Grades 3 and 4 bonspiel takes place on Feb. 22, followed by the Grades 5 and 6 and open/family bonspiel on Feb. 23.

The games usually start around 5 p.m. both days but may start earlier based on the number of teams entered. Each team is guaranteed three games.
