Wayne Ray Triebwasser
June 3/53 – January 26/23
In the arms of his wife and his hand in his son’s, Wayne went peacefully to sleep, in his home, for the last time.
He was the son of Raymond† and Goldie Triebwasser† and is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen (nee Hinrup) and their son, Jade Triebwasser (Mara).
Wayne is also survived by his sister, Charlene Fortsch (Richard); nephew Rob (Kari); sisters-in-law / brothers-in-law, Lisa & Ken Nielsen, Tumbler Ridge, BC, Tammy (Tam Tam) McFadden, Medicine Hat, John Hinrup, Sjorslev, Denmark,
Anette & Per of Kjellerup, Denmark; special mom-in-law, Kirsten Hinrup, Sjorslev, Denmark; nieces, Michelle (Ryan), Morroco (Denise), Kyrstin (Rob), Shelby (Galen), Akshya (Terrence), Sammy (Danieka), Sofie, Thea; nephews, Shane (Ashley), Brandon (Cari); as well as his great nieces and nephews and the many members of his extended Triebwasser and Sayler families.
Every single niece and nephew held a special place in Wayne’s heart and each one knew him from birth as our strong, male, family member who was always there for us. He taught them fishing, camping, dirt and quad riding and many other things.
He even did a crazy Swiffer Sweeper dance that the nieces still laugh about. Wayne embraced Karen’s family as they did him.
He especially cherished the friendship of his best buddies, Vern and Wendy, that lasted from their teenage years until now.
Wayne and Karen met in Medicine Hat on Jan 1, 1975.
On Sept 13, 1977, while having lunch at home, he said to her “Do you want to get married?” She laughed thinking he was joking. However, they got married that very same afternoon.
Wayne was a hardworking, dependable man who spent many years in the oil & gas industry. He started as a water truck driver, went to fracking, sales and then management. He chose to go back at the end of his work years by doing what he loved best and that was water truck driving. He built ice roads up north, hauled water to forest fires and to well sites in central and southern Alberta.
He could fix so many items and equipment that others couldn’t even see a solution to. He could also handle cattle, horses and cared for every other animal that came their way.
Wayne and his family moved to their acreage in the Shuswap in 1993 for several years until moving back to Alberta to help care for aging parents.
He golfed league and with friends for many years, and in their older years, Karen and Wayne started to only golf together and loved to go to Paradise Valley. It was a place that they both loved and was extremely special to them.
Born in Calgary and raised in both Calgary and on their land by Chestermere, he was a farm boy at heart, loved classic country and 60s/70s music. He was a Stampeders and Flames fan to the end.
But most of all, Wayne loved his wife and son beyond anything else.
He was proud of his son Jade and left a trail of wonderful memories behind for him.
Jade: My father taught me the values of being a good, trustworthy and dependable man to my family, along with always having the best advice and knowledge when I needed it.
Wayne and Karen shared an equaled love for one another that doesn’t happen very often for couples and wished only for more years to be together.
By the faith of our family, we are promised to be together again for eternity.
So…….we wait until then.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held.
