Mackenzie ‘Macky’ Allard
October 29, 2008 ~ December 22, 2022
It is with extremely heavy hearts that Arlen and Chrissy announce the sudden passing of their precious daughter, Mackenzie ‘Macky” Helen Allard. She passed away at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary on Thursday December 22, 2022, at the young age of 14 years. Along with her parents, left to remember Macky’s loving spirit are her sisters, Avery, Olivia, Gabby, Lily and Joy; grandmas, Audrey Anderson and Lauralee Schmidt; great-grandparents, Pat (Richard) McGilvery and Tom Schmidt; birth mom, Melinda Schmidt as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Macky was predeceased by her grampas, Carl Allard and Stan Chamberlane and her old gramma, Helen Anderson. Macky was a beautiful girl who loved to smile and giggle. Her family was so proud of how giving her soul was and how hard she fought to always do her best. You could always find Macky at the school library as reading was her favourite… even winning an award for reading the most books in one year! Family meant everything to Macky as she loved spending time dancing, laughing, playing games or just watching movies with them. Friends were extremely important to Macky and she loved and treasured all of them deeply as they all played an important part of her family. She will be forever missed!
Dad – “Now you can ride with Grampa for Daddy because I was never able to. Fly high baby girl. Love always, Daddy.”
Mom – “I hope you dance our silly dance forever baby. You will forever be my little me. Rest easy baby. I love you! Love always, Mommy.
Lily – I’m going to miss my big sister so much. I love you a lot Macky. Even if I can’t see you, I hope you know I’ll still go to your room every day and night and say good morning sissy and good night sissy.
Gabby – As your sisters, we promise to continue to always advocate for anyone that is being bullied and we will make sure everyone spreads love not hate.
Grandma – every time I look out the window I’ll forever remember you in your tent you made on the balcony. I hope there are lots of balconies in heaven for you to make all the tents your heart desires. I miss you and love you so much my Macky.
Olivia – Every sunset or sunrise that I see will make me think of you and how stunning you looked, as well as how awesome of a sister you were. I love you and miss you, Macky. Soar high!
Avery – my sweet baby sister. I will always love you . You are a part of me I’ll never let fade away. You are the strongest person I ever new. You are so incredibly beautiful. When the sunshine fades and the stars come into view, I sit there and talk to you so you know how loved you were. I make sure to say goodnight to you. Your kindness will always be remembered. My love always, Avery.
In Macky’s honour, her family is going to help initiate change in schools to ensure everyone has the opportunity to openly talk without feeling they need to stay silent if they need help. Macky’s family also want to help kids that make poor choices in school through their hurtful words and actions. They want to help them understand how damaging their actions can be to someone and hopefully fade out the word “bully” over time. There are many changes the family want to initiate and programs for help they wish to create over time because they know it’s something Macky would have wanted them to do. They are now her voice and will stand tall for her and every other ‘kiddo’ out there. As Macky would say “We got this!”
A Celebration of Macky’s life will be held at a later date (Condolences may be expressed by visiting our website at www.cooksouthland.com).
