Dec 18, 2022 | 11:08 PM

VAUGHAN, Ont. — Police north of Toronto say six people are dead after a shooting inside a condo building in Vaughan, Ont.

York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween says officers were called to the building at 7:20 on Sunday evening in response to a shooting in progress.

He says police found five people dead at the scene he described as horrendous.

MacSween says the suspected shooter was killed during an interaction with an officer, noting Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit would be looking into what took place during that exchange.

He did not provide any details about the shooter or the victims, saying families are still being notified.

MacSween says one person was also sent to a local hospital after the shooting.
