Marilyn Shirley Haffner (nee Myers) passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the age of 82 years. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Daniel (Debbie) and David (Darrell); grandsons, Jonathan (Kris) and Nathan; siblings, Marlene Strank (Hugh McBreen) (Sean, Ryan), Gail LeGrand (Jody, Todd, Mark), and Alan (Janice) Myers (Shannon, Graham, Hailey) as well as numerous extended family members. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Wayne; son, Dana; parents, Victor and Emily Myers and brothers-in-law, Rene LeGrand and Al Strank. Marilyn was born and raised in Weyburn, SK., and attended Haig School and the Weyburn Collegiate Institute. She worked in the Night Court in Regina where she met her future husband through her future father-in-law. She also worked at the Times Herald Newspaper in Moose Jaw prior to her marriage. Marilyn married George Wayne Haffner on September 30, 1961, in Moose Jaw. She worked in administrative support positions for the Federal Government for many years, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Marilyn was also quite artistic and enjoyed drawing, writing and repairing art pieces. She even had one of her poems published in the early 2000’s. Marilyn’s stubbornness, quick wit, sense of humour and love of animals will be missed by her family and all those who knew her. In honour of Marilyn’s life, her family gathered privately to pay their respects and cherish her memory. Donations can be made to any animal rescue or SPCA as Marilyn loved all animals.
