1970 – 2022
It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the sudden death of a husband, father, brother, son, uncle, and friend, Ried Patrick James, on Saturday November 12, 2022, at the age of 52. Ried was born to Tom and Debbie James on May 19, 1970, in Deloraine, MB. Graduating from high school in 1988 from Kincaid, SK., Ried worked at a few different jobs before starting at Goodyear in 1997. Ried was always involved in sports throughout his life. He loved hockey, baseball and had a huge passion for golf. Ried dedicated his time to coaching his daughters, Jill and Sophie in hockey as well as softball. He led Jill’s ball team to 5 provincial level medals, and spent many hours sitting on a bucket while his girls pitched over and over again.He also dedicated many years to Minor Hockey from AAA Hounds to the Cubs. Along with his loving and devoted wife, Denise, Ried’s memory will live forever in the hearts of his daughters, Jill (Cody) and Sophie; stepchildren, Lindsay and Landon; father, Tom (Audrey); mother, Debbie; brothers, Kyle (Coral) and Shaun (Shauna); niece, Chelsea (Fletcher); nephews Ethan (Nicole), Kolby and Kyler; great-nephew, Connor along with many friends. Friends and family are welcome to a Come and Go Celebration of Ried’s life to be held at the Medicine Hat Curling Club, 880 – 2 Street S.E., Medicine Hat on Saturday, May 27, 2023, between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting www.cooksouthland.com) Memorial donations in Ried’s name may be made directly to Kidsport, PO Box 40009, 355 Southridge Drive S.E., Medicine Hat, AB., T1B 4S6.
