City wins three Canadian Gas Association awards

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The city’s gas utility department is getting high marks from the Canadian Gas Association.

The City of Medicine Hat Gas Utility was presented with three awards recognizing safety and customer service in the gas industry this week.

The gas utility received Corporate Safety Award for Employee Safety in recognition of the city’s perfect employee safety scores, and the Corporate Safety Award for Vehicular Safety recognizing the organization’s track record for reducing vehicle damages over the past year.

The city was also recognized for its work in customer service, receiving the Michael Mulcahy Award for Excellence and Innovation in Customer Care and Service for significant achievement (over and above everyday activities) by members of the natural gas delivery industry in the area of innovation and service to natural gas customers.

Bryce Boehmer is a health, safety and environment (HSE) Specialist at the City of Medicine Hat and is the current chair of the CGA Health and Safety Committee who made the presentation locally on Wednesday. He said the awards acknowledge the safe work decisions made every day by dedicated staff.
