MEDICINE HAT, AB – Thanksgiving dinner could be a challenge for many reasons. Local businesses are providing different options for people to get in an affordable, or community-filled dinner.

With inflation driving up the price of groceries, many people may be looking for different options when it comes to being able to have the holiday meal with their family.

Local businesses like Skinny’s Smokehouse, The Clubhouse at Paradise Valley and the Medicine Hat Lodge have recognized this and each created different dinner options.

Skinny’s is offering both in house and takeout options for their dinners. People are able to come in for individual turkey dinners or they can order a tray that can feed 12-16 people along with whole turkeys. There are a variety of sizes when it comes to the trays to fit all sizes of families.

Manager Priyanka Dsouza said Skinny’s will be offering the dinner options until Monday, and welcomes groups of all sizes to come in and join them for Thanksgiving.

The Clubhouse at Paradise Valley also has options for both large families, and individuals for a turkey dinner. They will have the traditional Turkey dinner with other options available.

Chef at The Clubhouse Austin Engel says it’s Important to have community dinners and they see people attending elderly singles, to young couples who may not be able to justify cooking the classic dinner for themselves. “Come down, sit down, have a nice meal, it’s really for the whole family” he says.

Nicole Yaworsky who will be having her Thanksgiving at The Clubhouse tonight says “Prices have gone up a lot, not only is it not cheap to cook a turkey but sometimes if it’s just one or two people it’s easier to just get those single serve meals.”

Yaworsky has a catering company of her own, Heat and Eat meals. She offered pre made turkey dinners for this weekend that she said had quite the demand.

One more place that is offering a Thanksgiving meal is the Medicine Hat lodge. They will be offering a buffet style dinner that will be open at 5:00 p.m. Reservations are required.
