Dock removed from Connaught pond, Carry Drive road work update

Aug 31, 2022 | 11:27 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The dock in the Connaught pond is being removed until further notice.

The move is being made due to the decreased water level caused by the recent weather and increased water demand, says the City of Medicine Hat.

City staff will monitor the pond/reservoir to see if the dock can be replaced before winter.

The pond remains open for fishing and other recreational activities, including the use of non-motorized boats, like canoes, kayaks and paddleboards.

Carry Drive asphalt paving

The city says the final layer of asphalt paving on Carry Drive SE from Crestwood Drive to Southview Drive will begin Aug. 31 and be finished by Friday, Sept. 2.

This section of paving is the final step in stage 1 of the project. Work continues in stage 3 and Carry Drive SE remains closed from Carter Crescent SE and Ross Glen Drive SE. To follow along on the progress, visit medicinehat.ca/carrydrive.

Traffic flow in both directions will be managed by flag personnel, but motorists could experience long delays and should choose a different route if possible.
