Alberta announces funding for palliative care

Aug 29, 2022 | 4:11 PM

The Alberta government has announced nearly $12 million in funding to increase access to palliative care, expand training and boost research on end-of-life care.

The funding will go towards 25 projects – including 12 that will provide earlier access to care and expand community supports.

The others will improve health-care provider and caregiver education and training or go towards research, including studies on ways to improve access, assessments and interventions in palliative care.

Health Minister Jason Copping says the United Conservative government is delivering on a promise made in 2019 as part of a larger commitment to strengthen the publicly funded health system.
