Number of vacant jobs in Canada reaches new high
Medicine Hat, AB–Job vacancies in Canada reached a new high in June.
According to new data released by Statistics Canada this week employers were actively recruiting for 1,037,900 (more than one million) vacant positions for the third consecutive month.
Employers in the health care and social assistance sector are experiencing some of highest job vacancies rates in the country with almost 150 thousand positions needing to be filled. That number is 43 thousand higher than it was in June 2021.
The accommodation and food services sector is also struggling to hire staff. The number of vacancies in June was up 38.8% percent from the previous year.
