LETHBRIDGE, AB – The MLA for Lethbridge-East is headed south of the border.

Nathan Neudorf will join U.S. legislators at the Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development (BILLD) from Aug. 27 to 31 in Madison, Wisc.

The BILLD program is offered to members of the Council of State Governments Midwest (CSG). It includes policy sessions on topics like education, health care and economic development. Alberta has been a CSG members since 2010.

Neudorf stated, “The Midwest is a significant market for Alberta.”

“This BILLD program offers an excellent opportunity to discuss best practices, exchange ideas with U.S. legislators and showcase Alberta’s strengths as well as invest in strategic relationships for the future.”

The BILLD program is supported by the CSG Midwest and is made available to lawmakers from member jurisdictions in their first four years of service. CSG Midwest is a regional forum bringing together legislators and government leaders from 11 states and four Canadian provinces, including Alberta.

The provincial government said in a news release that the United States is Alberta’s largest trading partner, and Alberta is the second largest provincial exporter to the U.S.

In 2021, Alberta’s exports to the U.S. totalled $122.7 billion.

The province noted that mission expenses for Neudorf’s trip will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page of the Alberta Government website.
