DUNMORE, AB – The community of Dunmore will come together on Saturday to celebrate a year of progress and look forward to the future.

Dunmore Days will be hosted at Sunrise Park from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Olivia Whenham of the Dunmore Community Association says there will be a pancake breakfast, car show, bake off and sale, a bike parade and much more during this final summer hurrah for community members.

“For everybody to meet their new neighbours, to chat with their old neighbours that they might not get a chance to chat with normally, for any new kids to meet other kids in the community that they might be going to school with next week,” she says. “And it’s also a big thank you to the community because over the last year we’ve done a lot of fundraising efforts so anybody who’s volunteered or even attended, participated in any way, we really want to send a big thank you to them as well just to say you know we appreciate your efforts.”

The association has been working hard to revamp the park in recent years, and Dunmore Days is one of the events the association had in mind when improving the area. The current project is to upgrade the town’s outdoor rink with a roof and a new concrete pad to create a year-round multi-use space.

Whenham says it’s ready to be used this weekend and soon rink boards and two walls to protect from the wind will be added. They hope to have ice installed before the winter.

She adds the community association has many projects on the docket for the next five years, but nothing specific is planned at the moment.
