Abe Vanderham of Medicine Hat passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones while at the Riverview Care Centre on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at the age of 86 years. Abe was born in Rotterdam, Holland on October 3, 1935, and travelled to Canada where he married his wife, Annette, on August 20, 1955. Together they raised three boys, Adrian ‘Ed’, Dennis ‘Dan’ and Kenneth ‘Ken’. Abe enjoyed time spent with family, whistling away in his woodshop and tending to the garden. Anyone who met him would agree that he was quick to lend a helping hand. Abe will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Annette; sons, Dan and Ken (Rene); grandchildren, Chelsey, James, Kayla (Darcy), Stephanie and Nathan (Sydney); great-grandchildren, Nolan, Owen and Atlas; brothers, Chiel (Annie) and Pete (Dianne) as well as a sister-in-law, Joan. A private service has been held. Family wish to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Riverview as well as Dr. Ciubotaru for the loving care provided to Abe.
