Mrs. Elizabeth Camphor passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on June 18, 2022 at 3:15 PM, to be with her Lord and Saviour. A loving, caring and kind mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be dearly missed.
Born on October 14, 1940 to Peter and Monica Khokhar in Peshawar, Pakistan, Elizabeth grew up with two sisters and four brothers. She had a happy childhood and a Catholic upbringing. Throughout her life, she was a lady of strong Faith, read from the Bible, and prayed daily for her loved ones.
On July 4, 1956, Elizabeth married John Alfred Camphor and they had three children: David, Michael, and Isabella. John practiced Dentistry and Elizabeth was a dedicated homemaker. Together, they worked hard to provide the best education and opportunities for their children.
Elizabeth, John, and Isabella moved to Canada in July 1991 to join David and his family in Medicine Hat. In 1998, Elizabeth and Isabella moved to Calgary. Michael and his family moved to Canada in 2000 and the entire Camphor family was reunited.
Since 2008, Elizabeth faced several health challenges that tested and demonstrated her strength and resilience to reach even more milestones with her family. She saw her children lead successful careers, her grandchildren graduate from school and go on to fulfill their dreams, and the birth of her great granddaughter.
Elizabeth and Isabella moved back to Medicine Hat in 2021 to be closer to the rest of the family. In her final year of life, she made cherished memories and spent precious time with her family and her great-granddaughter, Setarah, who brought her so much joy.
Elizabeth leaves behind a loving family of three children: David (Parvin), Michael (Noreen), and Isabella; six grandchildren: Nadia, Maryann, Sara (Sukhy), Edmund, Sabrina, and Serena; one great grandchild: Setarah; and one great grand-dog: Abu. She is survived by her siblings, Stephen and Nasreen. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, John; parents, Peter and Monica; and siblings: John, Thomas, Angelina, and Joseph.
Her family expresses deep gratitude to Dr. Ahmad and Dr. Jahan for providing compassionate care to our Mom. Special thanks to the Medicine Hat Hospital ICU staff, Mishaela RN and Dr. Malik for keeping Mom comfortable during her final hours.
On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, a private family funeral mass was celebrated at Holy Family Parish with interment following at the Hillside Cemetery. Those wishing to honour Elizabeth’s memory may donate to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
