Missionaries in Medicine Hat working toward Ukrainian renewal

May 27, 2022 | 8:12 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Two missionaries from Ukraine will ask members of our community “Share Their Care” for the devastated country during a five-day visit to Medicine Hat.

Abe and Diane Bible have lived in Ukraine for more than three decades. As the war in that country stretched into its third month, they set out for North America.

On their website they write, “we are saddened with Russia’s attack on Ukraine in an effort to again oppress them. There is very little freedom in Russia. After much prayer we have decided to do what we can to bring renewal to Ukraine—even in the midst of war—and definitely after the war. The physical devastation is horrendous. Over 4 million Ukrainian refugees are now in other countries, but we have millions more displaced people here.”

They are travelling through Canada and the U.S., raising awareness of the needs in Ukraine and raising support for the renewal of the country and people. The pair will be at Hillcrest Church on Monday at 6:30 p.m. to share how people can help Ukrainians begin life again with nothing.

The pair has been blogging about their time in North America at renew-ukraine.life.

Abe and Diane will return to Ukraine in September, with the aim of establishing Centers of Hope across the country which will operate for several years to bring renewal in body, soul and spirit.
