1977 – Steve Mathison – 2022
Steven “Steve” Robert Mathison of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the age of 44 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Lisa, two daughters, Keira and Halle; his parents Sandy and Lorne Mathison, one sister, Deanna Mathison; his in-laws, Linda Ramnes and Daryle (Louise) Ramnes as well as numerous extended family and amazing friends that he loved. Steve was born in Milden, Saskatchewan and surprised his parents on Christmas day by arriving earlier than expected. His early years were spent in Conquest prior to moving to Coleville where he spent his elementary years before going to high school in Kindersley. He made many strong friendships and there was never a shortage of adventures, hockey, getting into trouble and the occasional scrap. After high school, he went on a trip of a lifetime, backpacking in Australia before coming home and moving to Medicine Hat in 1997. There he met Lisa, they quickly fell in love and were married in July of 2000. Keira was born in January of 2005, and Halle in June of 2008. Having a full house of girls was not going to change Steve’s love of everything outdoors and so as a family, many happy days were spent quadding in the mountains, ice fishing, hunting, hiking and trips on the Harley. He always loved it when his sister or his amazing friends and family could join in on the fun. No day could be better if he could cook an amazing meal over the fire. Through his various jobs in the oilfield he formed many connections and he was highly respected for his strong commitment to his work and being able to fix almost any problem. His dedication to his family and his work were incredible to a fault. Steve left this world much the same as he arrived, unexpectedly and on his own terms. He will be forever remembered for his huge personality, his ability to stir up shit, his larger than life laugh and his undying love for his girls, his family and his friends. A time of remembrance will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grandstand Room at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Grounds. Live streaming will take place for family and friends who are unable to attend. You may access the live stream by searching for the Pattison Funeral Home Youtube page.
