Six priorities outlined in Cypress County’s 2022 Strategic Plan

DUNMORE, AB – Cypress County Council envisions a better tomorrow for its residents, businesses and stakeholders and now has a document that will guide the way forward.

The county released its 2022 Strategic Plan this week following meetings this year and discussions with community members.

“This plan will help us keep on track to achieve our goals. to provide direction and focus and clarity in the county and it helps councillors be proactive,” says Reeve Dan Hamilton.

There are six strategic priorities outlined in the plan: regional leadership, balanced financial strategy, growth and development, public safety, tourism and access to markets.

Hamilton says regional leadership by getting the City of Medicine Hat and the Town of Redcliff working together stands above the rest. He adds things are moving in the right direction.

“It’s been pretty positive with the new councils that have come on in this term. We’ve probably had more talking and more activity in the last year than we have in the last 10 years,” he says. “So it’s been very positive and we’d like to keep that positive rolling and keep going with it as a region.”

Following the meetings and interactions with residents, councillors did a week’s worth of specialized planning sessions under the guidance of Sage Analytics, crystallizing a vision for the county.
