1940 – Shirley Martin – 2022

Monica “Shirley” Martin of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday March 23, 2022 at the age of 81 years, beloved wife of the late George “Ivan” Martin. She leaves to cherish her memory four sons, Darcy, Raymond (Mei), Steven and John (Jo); her grandchildren, Justin, Cameron, Carlie, Jackson, Darrah and Dora; three sisters, Jean Koehler, Irene Shuya and Phyllis (Irwin) Marx as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ivan in 2010, by her parents Monica and Bill Helfrich and by numerous siblings. Shirley was a devoted friend to many people in the community. A member of the CWL. Her spirit was very strong and she touched the hearts of many throughout her life. She had a unique, selfless and kind spirit. Always praying to the Lord for those relatives and friends in need and ready to help out without question when asked. She will be sorrowfully missed. The prayer vigil will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Roque Pereira celebrant. The funeral mass will be live streamed for family and friends who are unable to attend.
