Mr. Richard Douglas ‘Doug’ Franks, beloved husband of Linda Franks (nee Munroe), passed away at his home in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at the age of 79 years. Along with Linda, Doug will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Carrie (Bob) Wolf of Swift Current; son, J (Kristen) Franks of Saskatoon; grandchildren, Jason, Samantha, Jordan, Nixon and Emmi; four great-grandchildren as well as three great-great-grandchilden. Doug is also survived by his siblings, William ‘Willy’ Franks of Maidstone, Elmer Franks of Weyburn and Dixie Young of Edmonton as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Vicky Franks in 2009 and his brother, Reuben i 1936. Doug was born on June 12, 1942, in Maidstone, SK., where he grew up and attended school. He retired from CN Rail after 37 years of service. Doug’s hobbies included, playing sports, particularly baseball and hockey as well as being an amateur radio operator. Doug’s memory will be silently remembered by family and friends without the proceedings of a formal funeral service.
