Gordon Harth
November 22, 1944 ~ February 18, 2022
Petty Officer 1st Class, Gordon Arnold Harth (Ret’d), passed away in Medicine Hat on Friday, February 18, 2022, at the age of 77 years. Gord, a son of Louis and Emily (nee Arnold) Harth, was raised in the Mankota, SK. area until he was five. He started school in 1950, after the family moved to Aneroid, SK. This is where Gordon met his lifelong friend, Garry Resvick. He joined the Canadian Navy at the age of 18; being a Serviceman was his passion. Gordon’s service career initially ran from 1963 to 1966, before he re-enlisted in 1970, serving through to 1991 and obtaining the rank of PO 1st Class. He joined the CAF Supplementary Reserve as Master Chief and spent another four years at Vernon Army Camp. Gord married Private Frankie Bernice Harth (nee Silver) in Victoria, B.C. on October 16, 1970. They spent 23 years together in the military and were married for 51 years, having had no children. Gord was highly passionate about several things: Blue Jays baseball, the 10 dogs they had during their marriage and woodworking. He made countless items from bread boxes to bird feeders or birdhouses, most of which he gave away. He was also passionate about all their friends (oldtimers or new) and he was very proud of his service to our country and his wife, Petty Officer 2nd Class, Frankie Harth (Ret’d). Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., MST.
