Civilian patrol group looks for new members

REDCLIFF, AB – The people behind Redcliff Citizens on Patrol are hoping to breath new life into the organization.

The patrol, otherwise known as C.O.P.S., is looking for new volunteer members.

Started in 2004, the group aids RCMP with watching for crime in Redcliff.

But interest in the agency waned over the years, and there are only three members right now, which is down from a high of about 20.

The patrol says Redcliff may not be the biggest community, but crime can still be an issue.

And they say the Mounties can always use a helping hand.

“The RCMP I believe do a great job in our area but they do have a big area. They go to the borders. They’re kind of stretched thin at times, so it’s really nice to have somebody else out there having a look around,” the group’s El Robertson said.
