Five Esplanade shows postponed

Jan 13, 2022 | 4:48 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Ticket sales have been stopped for five upcoming shows at the Esplanade due to changes to the performers’ tour schedules.

“We route with a large number of cities throughout Canada and sometimes in the states and so with a lot of restrictions changing within different provinces the routes were no longer viable,” explains Josie Doll, entertainment and events coordinator for the City of Medicine Hat.

“So we’re looking at feverishly rescheduling everything with time frames that work better with the routes to continue so we can continue with the entertainment we had planned.”

Shows by The Fretless (Jan. 27), Blackie and the Rodeo Kings (Feb. 6), The Trews (Feb. 9), Raven (Feb. 18) and Cheremosh (Feb. 26) have been postponed.

Doll admits there are concerns that more shows may be postponed.

“We sort of are in this entertainment industry living day by day based on what provincial and city restrictions will look like,” she says. “So always keeping in mind public safety, public comfort, artist safety, artist comfort, that sort of thing. So it is an ever-changing environment that we’re working through.”

Anyone who purchased tickets to the affected shows will be contacted directly regarding the new dates or refunds.
