1943 ~ Howard Widmer ~ 2021

Howard Andrew Widmer passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the age of 78 years, beloved husband of Darlene Widmer of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory three children, Deanna (Raymond) Ries, Colleen (Derek) Herter, Kerry (Kim) Widmer; three grandchildren, Brett (Tiffany) Ries, Kyle Herter (Rachel Hurley) and Mitchell Herter; two great grandchildren Lily Ries and Cooper Ries; one brother Lynn Widmer as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Howard grew up on the family farm near Golden Prairie, Saskatchewan. He farmed along side his dad until 1965, when he and his wife Darlene took over the farm. Farming was Howard’s life work and was his career until retirement in 2004. Howard enjoyed fishing, camping, curling and being in the outdoors with family and friends. Always quick with a friendly smile and handshake, Howard will be remembered as a good friend, proud farmer and dedicated family man. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Medicine Hat Hospital 5E and thank you to the staff at Masterpiece Southland Meadows for the special care provided to Howard. A private family funeral service by invitation only will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. Due to the restrictions brought forward by the Chief Medical Officer of Health, indoor public gatherings are to be kept to 50 people. Masks are mandatory. The service will be live streamed, and family and friends who are unable to attend are invited to watch the service by searching for the Pattison Funeral Home Youtube page. The video will go live 10 minutes prior to service time and will remain on the youtube page for future viewing. A private family interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
