MEDICINE HAT, AB – CHAT News is projecting that Medicine Hat voters have chosen a new mayor.

Speaking to a cheering crowd at Earl’s Restaurant where a selection of candidates gathered, Clark said she is humbled and grateful and that she will continue to need that support.

She said some great councillors are being elected tonight as well.

“We will work together to achieve some of the goals we outlined in our campaigns,” she said.

Clark said on the campaign trail that she heard many residents say they desired change in the city’s leadership.

Indications at this point are that six of the eight councillors will be new to the table.

Clark, who took an unpaid leave of absence from her job as a city solicitor to run for mayor, will be the first female mayor in Medicine Hat’s history.
