MEDICINE HAT, AB – A local woman is overwhelmed with emotion following the return of a precious keepsake.

A necklace containing the ashes of Emma Gosselin’s son was stolen from her vehicle on Aug. 17. Gosselin says she had forgotten to lock her vehicle before bed.

Gosselin tells CHAT News that just after 8 a.m. Thursday she received a call from the Medicine Hat Police Service indicating her son’s ashes had been found.

In a message Gosselin says ” I cannot even begin to explain how overwhelmed with emotions I am right now! The power of social media has absolutely blown me away, thank you Medicine Hat Police Station for your hard work!”

She also wanted to “thank every single person who commented, shared, kept an eye out, reached out to me and re-shared.”

Medicine Hat police stated earlier this month that vehicle entries are a recent trend occurring throughout the city.

Police say in all the cases, the vehicles were unlocked and had valuables such as keys, credit cards, and cash inside.
