1935 – Fred Kramer – 2021

Fred Kramer passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021. Fred was born and raised in Southwestern Saskatchewan. After grade 12 and Teachers College in Moose Jaw, he began his teaching career in a one room school. The next year of teaching and studying Fred obtained a Bachelor Degree in Arts and Education and a Masters Degree from Gonzaga University.

Fred retired from teaching in 1990, and then became actively involved in volunteer capacities in Medicine Hat. These included the Senior Games, church activities at St. Peter and the Medicine Hat Public School Board. He enjoyed working in these new roles and made many lasting friendships.
Fred was a sports enthusiast. He cheered on the Saskatchewan Rough Riders, the Blue Jays and the Raptors. He was a good bowler – a team player and rarely missed a bowling night. Fred shared a husband and wife membership at the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club for many years. He and wife Barbara golfed hundreds of courses – from prairie small town courses to Kananaskis and scenic Spokane.

Fred’s family grew in 2016, with the addition of the Gervais twin girls – Sophia and Gabrielle. So began many trips to Lethbridge to babysit, play and enjoy! Happy time memories were many vacations to Cypress Hills, Saskatchewan with supper barbeques and walks around the lake – winter breaks were planned to Mexico – a favorite place was Mazatlan.

Fred’s personality and “life qualities” will always be remembered. He was known for his genuine acceptance of others and he was a trustworthy friend. During illness and tough times his love and guidance held his family together. We love you, will miss you, and you will be in our hearts forever.
Fred will be remembered by his wife Barbara, son Carelton, daughter Stephanie (Mike, Sophia and Gabrielle), brother Darwin (Linda) Kramer, sister Doreen (Don) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Laughlin and Josephine Basarsky.

The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Pastor Shane Hein officiating.
