1922 ~ Olinda “Mickey” Treiber ~ 2021
Our family is saddened to announce Mom’s passing, on Sunday, July 4 2021 at the age of 98 years, beloved wife of the late Jacob Treiber. Leaving to mourn her passing are three children, Millie (Harvey) Moch and their children, Leon ( Viv) , Jackie (Cory Schell), and Delvin (Verna); Sheila Rumberg and her children Brian (Shelley), and Crystal Webster; Lyle (Leslie) and children Murray, Teri and Kale; eleven great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by husband Jack in 2009, son-in-law Robert (Butch) in 2012, and thirteen siblings.
After a month long courtship, Mom and Dad were married February 28, 1940. They settled on the Treiber homestead, where they began their wedded lives. They welcomed daughters, Millie and Sheila to their family. In 1958, they moved into a new home that had the luxuries of running water and electricity, and later that year welcomed the arrival of their son Lyle.
Mom kept busy, with church activities, sports (especially curling), cooking, sewing, and many days helping on the farm. In 1973, they moved to Medicine Hat, at which time, she went to work and got her first pay check! Once in town they made many new friends – lots of card games, shuffleboard, dancing, and camping. In 1998, they moved on to condo life, which they thoroughly enjoyed with all the social activities.
In 2012, Mom moved into Chinook Village. Due to declining health she then moved to Good Sams where she resided until her passing. At this time we would like to thank the staff for all the care they provided for Mom, and for everything they did for her family.
Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the church on Friday from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held in Victory Lutheran Church (2793 Southview Drive SE) on Friday July 9, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Roland Weisbrot and Chaplain Dallas Hjorth officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to remember Mickey with a donation, may do so to the Alzheimers Society.
