COVID-19 Update: Province confirms 293 new cases of COVID-19

EDMONTON,AB- The province has confirmed 293 cases of COVID-19 across the province Saturday. There are 5,071 active cases, down from 5,415 yesterday.

The provincial positivity rate is 4.4 per cent.

A total of 373 people are in hospital, including 105 in intensive care.

The province also confirmed 353 variant cases and three new deaths.

On Twitter this afternoon, Dr. Deena Hinshaw revealed the province has now exceeded 3 million vaccine doses. She encouraged people to book their first shot if they have not already, and to book their second dose as soon as they are eligible.

The percentage of the population that has received at least one dose of the vaccine is 55.3 per cent.

In Cypress County, there are 18 active cases, and 277 recoveries. The vaccination rate is 45.7 per cent.

Newell County has 22 active cases, 216 recoveries, and two recorded deaths.

The City of Brooks has 18 active cases, 1461 recoveries, and 15 recorded deaths.

The County of Forty Mile has two active cases, 152 recoveries, and three recorded deaths.

The Municipal District of Taber has seven active cases, 558 recoveries, and six recorded deaths.

Lethbridge County has 32 active cases, 1205 recoveries, and 12 recorded deaths.

The City of Lethbridge has 84 active cases, 4696 recoveries, and 38 deaths.
