BROOKS, AB. — Staff Sergeant Gordon Yetman has been named as the new commander of the Brooks RCMP detachment.

Yetman comes to Brooks after serving as the Detatchment Commander of the Taber/Vauxhall RCMP.

He’s also served in Redcliff, Vermillion, Ponteix and Lloydminster, and was the acting Commander of the Bow Island detachment in 2016.

Yetman also served as acting operations Non-Commissioned Officer at the Brooks Detachment in 2017.

He says that assignment was a major factor in his reasoning to come to Brooks.

“It was also during that time that I came to appreciate how forward thinking and supportive of policing efforts our elected officials are. The professionalism and hardworking nature of the detachment members and staff that I witnessed back in 2017 helped to pull me back here” says Yetman in a release.

Staff Sgt. Yetman replaces Staff Sgt. Chris Zanidean who transferred to Airdrie earlier this year and is currently serving as the District Advisory NCO.

Yetman’s new duties begin May 19th.
