Apr 7, 2021 | 12:08 PM

LEON, Mexico — Toronto FC signed 20-year-old defender Luke Singh to a short-term agreement ahead of its round-of-16 tie Wednesday against Mexico’s Club Leon in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League.

Singh’s signing perhaps provided a hint of the injuries TFC was dealing with going into the first leg of the Leon matchup. Head coach Chris Armas has declined to detail those injured.

Singh signed with Toronto FC 2 in March 2019, spending the remainder of the 2019 season on loan with Denmark’s Brondby IF.

Born in Bampton, Ont., Singh has represented Trinidad and Tobago at the under-20 level.

MLS rules allow a club to sign players from a USL affiliate to short-term agreements for CONCACAF Champions League, Canadian Championship, Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and exhibition matches.
