Local church held multiple services at limited capacity for Easter

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Victory Lutheran Church offered in-person services this Easter weekend, which its senior pastor says followed COVID-19 protocols.

Services are livestreamed but not everyone can access them. Pastor Jim Bredeson says the limited seats are meant for those without internet and computers.

He says over the weekend some church members specifically chose to stay home, giving up their seats for those who can’t listen online.

Bredeson says adhering to the guidelines creates more work as the church offered three services on Easter Sunday.

Congregation is limited to 15 per cent capacity and everyone must wear a mask and sign in.

“The safety rules that have been put in place are no different than building codes or fire codes,” Bredeson said. “It’s not a matter of not being able to preach the gospel cause in some ways we’ve been able to do that even more powerfully over the internet. We’ve have people watching literally from all over the world.”

Victory Lutheran Church will continue to offer in-person services at limited capacity.
