Local company warns of scam

Medicine Hat, AB–IFIX Technology is warning about a new scam. The company says people have been reporting phone calls from an Ontario based number claiming to be calling from Amazon.
A recorded message states the person has been charged for purchasing an iPhone 11 Pro and that Amazon is calling to verify the purchase for fraud reasons.
The caller is then directed to press 1 and are connected to an Operator who starts asking for account information. Callers that advise they did not make the purchase are then asked to provide all their account information to stop this fraudulent activity.
IFIX Technology says whoever is claiming to be Amazon is trying to steal information so they can get access to people’s accounts. IFIX is advising anyone who may have provided personal account information over the phone to change their password immediately. Unusual activity on an Amazon account should be brought to the attention of the company directly.
