Alberta launches Tradesperson Credential Verification Service

Jan 29, 2021 | 5:23 PM

A new online service will make it easier for the credentials of tradespersons and apprentices in Alberta.

The provincial government has launched the Tradesperson Credential Verification Service.

The government says the new service is part of its commitment to reducing red tape. In 2019, the Apprenticeship and Industry Training Information Line received almost 5,000 calls requesting staff to verify individual credentials.

The new service offers access to the same information at any time.

“The efficiency of the new online credential tool brings a level of peace of mind for the apprentice seeking work as they can take comfort in knowing that their credentials will be verified quickly. For employers, this service will be a great way to ensure they are getting the skills they need,” says Scott Papineau, apprenticeship coordinator/training instructor, Alberta Ironworkers Apprenticeship and Training Plan (Local 720)
