1942 ~ Jean Cozart ~ 2021
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Jean Sharadon Cozart on January 15, 2021 at the age of 78 years, beloved wife of the late Abner Cozart. Jean is survived by her six children, Hal (Diane), Deni, Brett (Beth), Chris (Mark), Troy (Louise), and Kym; and many grandchildren all of whom held a special place in her heart; two brothers, Gordon (Val) and Rod (Sue); and her sister, Shirley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Halvor Hegland; her husband, Abner Cozart; one son-in-law, Don Watson; one brother, Don and several members of Abner’s family. Jean was born on February 8, 1942 in Lethbridge, Alberta but spent most of her childhood living in Empress hanging out with her friends, going to community dances, and having a coke at the local cafe. It was also here where she met the love of her life (Ab) at the age of 14. They were married on October 22, 1960, and lived in a little trailer prior to moving to a farm house in the middle of nowhere. For anyone that knows Jean this was not going to work, so with three kids in tow the family moved to Bindloss, where they had two more kids. The family moved to Medicine Hat and then to Redcliff in 1972 where Jean spent the remainder of her life. After some of Jean’s kids moved out, with five bedrooms to fill and to avoid being an empty nester, her and Ab decided to become foster parents. Ab passed away in 2000, but Jean continued fostering and fostered over 300 kids in total. She became Grandma Jean to everyone who knew her. It was during this time that one of these kids (Kym), became her sixth child. The family felt this was ironic as Jean always said her life’s goal was to be a mom and have six kids, three boys and three girls, and that is just what God gave her. Even after retirment she was still surrounded by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren each of whom she had a special relationship with. Jean was very active in her church and had an unwavering relationship with God. She prayed her family through all of life’s ups and downs. Jean loved to laugh and she had the best giggle, she was named Giggly Grandma by her grandkids. She touched so many live’s with her gentle heart and she will be truly missed by all who knew her, however her laughter and the memories we have will be forever etched in our hearts. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve MacCuaig officiating. Family and friends are invited to remotely attend the funeral service by searching for the Pattison Funeral Home youtube page where the video will go live 10 minutes prior to service time. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date in the Glenview Church of the Nazarene followed by interment in the Redcliff Cemetery.
