1931 – Irene Lutz – 2021
Irene Margaret Lutz passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the age of 89 years, beloved wife of Joe Lutz of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory three children, Ken (Eileen) Lutz, Myra Lutz (Cliff Berreth) and Allan (Debra) Lutz; seven grandchildren, Kendra Lutz (Dan Somerville), Keri (Will) Lutes, Amber (Brian) Braun, Kimberly Lutz, Kelly Lutz (Anna Ehret), Justin Lutz, and Vicki (Tanner) Betcker; five great grandchildren, Haileigh, Paige, Zachary, Hadley and Heidi; one sister Kay (Jerry) Hager; one brother, Mike (Marion) Ibach and sister-in-law, Margaret (Larry) McKay and many nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her parents Peter and Rose Ibach; Joe’s parents, Frank and Susanna Lutz, Joe’s stepmother Edna Lutz; two brothers, Tony and Henry Ibach; one brother-in-law Joseph Lesmeister; sisters-in-law Katherine Ibach and Anna Marie Koenig. Irene was born on November 8, 1931 on the family farm north of Fox Valley, Saskatchewan. She moved to Medicine Hat in 1948, and worked at Hycroft China, Medalta Potteries and Redcliff Glass Factory. She met Joseph Lutz and they were married in 1951. In the spring of 1952, they moved to the family homestead near Liebenthal where they farmed until 1989, retiring to Medicine Hat at that time. Irene loved to garden, do crafts and crocheted many projects over the years. If your name was in her birthday book you could always expect a call from her on your special day. Irene loved to play cards and would never pass up a chance to do so. Irene was a lifetime C.W.L. member. We would like to thank the staff from Homecare and Masterpiece for the excellent care given to Mom over the years. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. (Masks are mandatory) Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Parish on Friday, January 22, 2021 with Father Iqbal Khurshid celebrant. You are invited to watch the mass online at Youtube.com and type in Medicine Hat Holy Family Church. . Log onto the Youtube page at 12:40 p.m. as the eulogy will be given at 12:45 p.m. (Mass to follow). Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
