1926 ~ Earl Good ~ 2021
Earl Good passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the age of 94 years, beloved husband of Thelma Good of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory two children, Debra (Rodney) Feil and Lori Jones; four grandchildren, Jason (Tracey), Jaime (Shane), Courtney, Derek (Beth); six great grandchildren, Weston, Carter, Collins, William, Natalie and Alice; two brothers, Wallace (Lorraine) and Larry (Josephine); five sisters, Rachel Kusler, Marjorie Heller, Mymma (Harlan) Fulton, Mabel Quenzer and Wilma (Mel) Gibson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Gladys Good, one sister, Florence Kusler and a son-in-law Howard Jones. Earl Good was born August 8, 1926. He lived on a cattle ranch south of Walsh with his parents, William and Gladys. Earl was one of nine kids – Florence, Rachel, Earl, Wallace, Marjorie, Mymma, Mabel, Wilma and Larry. There was no school in the area so a building that was originally used as a chicken coop was converted into a school. It was situated behind the house and became known as North Cypress School and continued to operate until 1943. The family purchased the “Sutherland Place” in 1944, which became Earl’s permanent home after his marriage to Thelma on December 29, 1950. Earl and Thelma ranched until 1983 when they semi-retired to Medicine Hat. Earl continued to farm on land close to his son-in-law and daughter (Rod and Debra). He often spent summers living out of his camper trailer on the land and winters in Medicine Hat. He loved agriculture and his fondest moments were during harvest time; he even drove his combine the summer he turned 90. One of his favorite pastimes was attending the weekly cattle sales at the Medicine Hat Feeding Company; while there he looked forward to pie and coffee with friends. Earl also enjoyed fishing, playing cards and picnics with family and friends in the Cypress Hills. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Those who wish to remember Earl with a donation, may do so to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
