“Your Wings Were Ready, But Our Hearts Were Not!”
Harvey George Nixdorf, beloved husband of Kathy, succumbed to his illness while surrounded by his family at the Bow Island Health Centre on Monday, January 11, 2021, at the age of 61 years. Along with Kathy, Harvey will be lovingly remembered by his family: sons, Cameron (son, Koven), Craig (daughter, Mila), Cade (Megan Donkersgoed), Cole (Brianne) Aylwin (children, Lincoln and Sawyer) and Brett (Lori) Aylwin; sister, Marj (Duaine) Brown; brother-in-law, Jack Steenhart as well as numerous nieces, nephews and members of Kathy’s family. Harvey was predeceased by his parents, George and Josie Nixdorf; sister, Sharon Steenhart as well as Kathy’s parents, Clarence and Yvonne Thurston. Harvey was a pillar of the Bow Island community serving on many boards throughout the years. He coached his sons hockey and baseball teams, driving them to their games all over the province. Harvey worked for Midwest Surveys for over 30 years before his pre-retirement employment at SMRID. In his free time, he enjoyed tinkering and tooling in his shop, building and creating unique objects and would always have a project on the go. Along with tinkering, other special interests of Harvey included hunting, trips to Mexico with Kathy and spending time at the lake. His most treasured moments were time spent with family… he adored his grandchildren immensely. Whenever he was needed, good or bad, Harvey would be there for anyone who needed him. His sense of humour and his ability to love and be loved, will be missed! Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family service celebrating Harvey’s life will be held at the Evangelical Free Church in Bow Island on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor George Mills officiating.
