Province records 2100 new cases of COVID-19 over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

EDMONTON, AB- Christmas Eve and Christmas Day saw 2100 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in the province.

The numbers were provided through Dr. Deena Hinshaw’s Twitter account on Saturday.

On Christmas Eve, 1200 new cases were confirmed and 17,800 lab tests were performed. The positivity rate stood at 7 per cent.

On Christmas Day there were 900 new cases confirmed, and 14,200 lab tests completed. The positivity rate stood at 6 per cent.

Both days saw a ‘small increase’ in ICU admissions and hospitalizations, according to Hinshaw.

Regional numbers were not provided.
