Medicine Hat YMCA gets $15,000 from Jumpstart
The YMCA of Medicine Hat recently received funding to jumpstart its health, fitness and aquatics program and help offset the costs of personal protective equipment related to COVID-19.
The $15,000 jumpstart comes from Jumpstart.
“This funding will directly benefit our community by allowing the YMCA to update its aging health, fitness and aquatics equipment to better serve individuals, families and children as they work to improve their health and wellness,” said CEO Sharon Hayward in a release. “Additionally, it will help offset a portion of the costs incurred for PPE for YMCA staff and volunteers. As a charity that has been deeply impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are extremely appreciative to be receiving this funding.”
The $15,000 is part of an $8 million relief that was announced by Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities in September. The YMCA of Medicine Hat is one of 668 sport and recreation organizations nationally to be provided with grant support through Jumpstart’s Sport Relief Fund.
