Josephine Edith Aldred of Medicine Hat passed away peacefully with family at her side on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at the age of 87 years, beloved wife of the late Vernon Aldred. Josephine was born on the family farm in Beverly, Saskatchewan. She married Vern in 1954 and they made their home and raised their family in Medicine Hat. Josephine worked for many years at the glass factory in Redcliff, then at Woolworth, Co-op cafeterias and the meat department at the Co-op where she stayed until her retirement. She was a talented artist, sewing, quilting, paper tole, cake decorating, and knitting kept her busy. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Josephine found great joy in spending time with family and was always interested in everything that was happening in their lives. She loved her dogs and they were her constant companions. She leaves to cherish her memory her three children, Armand (Shirley) Aldred, Delphine (Jeff) Anderson and Darcy Aldred; four grandchildren, Stephanie Aldred, Renee (Rocky) Wagner, Jeffery Aldred and Michael Aldred (Shena DuFloth); six great grandchildren, Courtney, Austin, Katelyn, Alyssa, Chanelle and Sierra; three brother, Richard (Sheila) Ashton, Harry (Debbie) Ashton and Percy Ashton; five sisters, Rose Gavel, Bessie Nelson, Eileen Collier, Evelyn Nickerson and Jean Sadden as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Kathleen Ashton; her husband, Vern on February 18, 2003 and brother, Joe Ashton. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday from 1:00 – 1:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. Due to restrictions in place regarding COVID- 19 from the Chief Medical Officer of Health – funeral services are now limited to no more than 100 attendees including family and funeral home staff. Family and friends are invited to remotely attend the funeral service by going to youtube.com and search for Pattison Funeral Home. The video will go live 10 minutes prior to service time on the Pattison Funeral Home youtube page. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
