More layoffs are coming to Alberta’s energy sector
Over the weekend Cenovus announced it would buy Husky Energy in a deal worth $3.8 billion in shares.
Both companies have now confirmed that the merger could result in the loss of more than 2,000 jobs – or up to 25 per cent of its workforce.
Most of those job losses will be in Calgary.
Husky says many details are still being worked out as part of the process.
