1951 ~ Edgar Blaquiere ~ 2020
Edgar “Ed” Joseph Blaquiere passed away on September 24, 2020 at the age of 68 years. He leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life, Bev, his sons, Kirk (Dione) Blaquiere, Shane (Amanda) Blaquiere, Donnie (Ashley) Perini and was predeceased by his son Bruce Perini. He also leaves nine grandchildren, Jessica, Craig, Cody, Sabrina, Hannah, Tiahanna, Josh, Larissa, Nicolas; four great grandchildren, Kali, Kinslee, Keanna, Clyde; his mother, Doris Blaquiere, two sisters, June (Bill) Matuska and Betty (Trevor) Jones as well as numerous other loved ones who called him “Grampa”. Ed was superman to his grandkids. When he became ill, his granddaughter Hannah said, “superman is tired, and even superman needs to rest”. Ed loved his family and would brag about how awesome his mom is, what great sisters he had, and that he had the prettiest and smartest grandkids. He loved to motorcycle and owned many different bikes until 1985, when he bought his first Harley. He travelled on his Harley with Bev to many places that hold awesome memories of the fun times. He loved camping and fishing with his boys, and when the boys grew older he then took the grandkids. Chopping wood, having a fire pit, and toasting marshmallows were a chore of love. Ed built his dream workshop and spent hours wood working – building games, tables and chairs for kids, and repairing furniture for anyone that needed help. Bev and Ed were “joined at the hip” and did everything together. Jeanette was his most loved sister-in-law who introduced them to cruising to Victoria Island for wine tours, Cruise Night Car Shows in Three Hills, and then finally real cruises to the Caribbean. Ed was one of the three original organizers of the Medicine Hat Toy Run. For many years he had the privilege to be Santa Claus on the Toy run. He had many friends over the years and his family would like to thank them for their support through his last tough battle, especially Gary and Marlene who made a social life possible. We also want to thank WeCare/HomeCare for making it possible for Ed to stay at home as long as possible. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at which time social distancing is encouraged. A private family service will be held at a later date. Those who wish to remember Ed with a donation, may do so to the Carmel Hospice (St. Joseph’s Home) (for furniture in Medicine Hat) or the Medicine Hat News Santa Claus Fund.
