Provincial recoveries now over 10,000

No change in Medicine Hat COVID-19 cases, provincial numbers spike again

There is no change in the number or condition of COVID-19 cases in Medicine Hat.

The city remains at 64 total cases — four active, 59 recovered and one death.

Alberta counted 134 new cases today after recording fewer than 100 cases for each of the past seven days.

The province now has a total of 11,430 cases. Of those, 1,125 are active, an increase of 18, and 10,097 are recovered, an increase of 113.

There are 68 Albertans currently in hospital due to COVID-19, 18 of which are in ICU. There are a total of 208 deaths, an increase of three. One of those deaths is in the South Zone.

The province conducted 8,533 tests on Thursday.

The South Zone has a total of 1,685 cases —1,577 recovered, an increase of eight, and 90 active, a decrease of two.

There are nine people in the zone in hospital, five of which are in ICU, and there have been 18 deaths.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw will provide her next in-person update on Monday.

Cypress County has totalled 31 cases – all recovered.

The County of Forty Mile has 16 total cases, four active cases and 12 recovered.

The MD of Taber has 37 total cases — three active and 34 recovered.

Special Areas No. 2 has one active case and 14 recovered.

Brooks has 1,123 total cases —1,114 are recovered and there are none considered active. Brooks has recorded nine deaths. The County of Newell has a total of 26 cases — six active and 21 recovered.

The County of Warner has 54 total cases. There are now one active case and 52 recovered. There has been one death in the county.

The City of Lethbridge has a total of 139 cases. Of those, 44 are listed as active and 93 recovered and there have been two deaths there. Lethbridge County has 27 cases, two active cases and 25 recovered.

The figures on alberta.ca are “up-to-date as of end of day Aug. 6, 2020.”

Saskatchewan reported 23 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, 15 in the South Zone.

Saskatchewan has a total of 1,409 cases, 168 considered active. There are 1,221 recovered cases and there have been 20 COVID-19 deaths in the province.
