Theresa Maria Fox
June 30, 1937 ~ June 14, 2020
Mrs. Theresa Maria Fox, beloved wife of the late Mr. William ‘Bill’ George Fox, passed away while surrounded by her loving family at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Sunday, June 14, 2020, just shy of her 83rd birthday. Theresa was born to Joseph and Marie Tremblay at Greenwater Lake Provincial Park, SK., on June 30, 1937, and grew up around Hudson Bay, SK., and The Pas, MB. Her parents were born in Lac La Biche, AB. She spent a number of years raising her children in Thompson, MB., and had lived in Saskatoon, Calgary and Lac La Biche before spending the last 30 years in Medicine Hat.
Theresa worked as a Domestic Engineer until she was 75 years old. She loved to cook and feed everyone but hated to clean up after herself! Food was the way she showed love to her family and friends. Theresa was a very caring person, loved by all and a big time hugger. She had many funny sayings that made you laugh, such as; “go to grass and eat clover”, “kick in the pants with a frozen moccasin”, “dirty old dog”, “go to the moon and fly a kite”, “don’t count your chickens before they are hatched”. While Theresa had a humorous side she also had a sensitive side that would show as she loved to watch old movies that would make her cry. Taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was very special to her. She loved picking fruit and two years ago found herself in the middle of a Saskatoon berry patch.
Theresa was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1970 and after this time, she loved sharing her faith and hope of a paradise earth with others. One of her favourite texts was from Isaiah 65:21-25: “They will build houses and live in them They will plant vineyards and eat their fruitage For the days of my people will be like the days of a tree and the work of their hands my chosen ones will enjoy to the full.” One of her most memorable occasions was to attend her Assembly of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the summer of 2019 in Saskatoon in which she was excited to have had the opportunity to visit with her spiritual brothers and sisters she hadn’t seen in many years.
Theresa’s memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of her children, John Devine, Ramona (Charlie) Tabor, Anthony Devine, Diana (Tony) Hansen and Shirley (Shawn) Maloy; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill and her parents.
The Funeral Service honouring Theresa’s life will be held via Zoom meeting on Sunday, June 28, 2020, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Rather than sending flowers, consider donating to the bible education work that Theresa loved.
